Why is the UPSC exam considered tough?

 

Before preparing for UPSC, most candidates have this question: ‘ Is UPSC tough?’ yes, UPSC is one of the most challenging civil service exams. However, this toughness does not make it unmanageable. Why is the UPSC exam considered tough?

There are various reasons why UPSC aspirants consider the IAS exam to be a tough nut to crack. The first reason UPSC candidates fear choosing the IAS exam to build their career is its less pass percentage. Every year, lakhs and lakhs of candidates appear for the UPSC exam. But, of them, only 0.2% of the candidates make it to securing a position as an IAS officer.

Most candidates have to appear for the UPSC exam more than once. As a result, candidates have to lose a few years. This is what most candidates dislike. Besides, candidates are unsure whether they will be able to pass the UPSC Prelims or Mains or the interview round at one go. Therefore, all they need to do is wait for the following year.

Another significant reason UPSC candidates consider the IAS exam one of the most challenging civil service exams is its syllabus. There is no denying that the UPSC syllabus is massive.
