Preparing beforehand every day can literally change your life and will open doors for your dream of becoming a bureaucrat. The Interview or the personality test usually carries 275 marks weightage. It can also cover the gap of approx 100 marks for the aspirants if prepared effectively.

In this article, we will guide you through some of the tips that will help you excel in the UPSC civil service interview.

Start early

Time is everything in this examination. Managing your time effectively plays a greater role in the success rate of the examination. Therefore starting early always helps in the longer run. Do not wait for your results to prepare for the Interview. As soon as you are done with your mains examination, start preparing for the Interview. Watching previous IAS interview questions will be of great help.

Know your-self

The most crucial problem that almost every candidate faces is that they are not aware of themselves. Knowing your potential is required to excel in the Interview round. Once you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, you can work on them accordingly. Working in a directionless manner will end you up nowhere. Therefore, sitting with your positives and negatives will always help.

Acknowledge your bio-data multiple times

Most candidates skip this part. Reading your bio-data and being aware of what's written in it will make a quarter of the work easy for you. Since many questions in the UPSC interview are asked from your bio-data. Therefore, reading it multiple times will help you to retain the information and answer the IAS interview questions accordingly. Fumbling with personal questions will create a bad impression in front of the interviewers. So read your bio-data and try to remember everything you have written on it.

Develop a positive attitude

Undoubtedly, the UPSC interview is surrounded by Myths and rumors. However, a positive attitude throughout your preparation and Interview will help you excel. Try to keep your calm and do not interrupt your fellow Interview. Listen to their questions calmly, then pause for a minute and answer it while making eye contact with the person you are talking to.

Don't take UPSC interviews casually

Never go to the Interview casually and answer them in a disgraceful manner. Be confident about your beliefs and faith but never be disgraceful while answering your question to the interviewer. Give respect to all the board members and acknowledge them. Since they are extremely knowledgeable, answering them casually can create a bad impression and will degrade your marks.

Summing it up

UPSC interview isn't that difficult if prepared strategically. We hope by now you might have understood how you can excel in a UPSC interview.
