How many attempts are in UPSC

UPSC stands for the Union Public Service Commission, which is a central recruiting agency responsible for selecting candidates for various civil services in India. The UPSC conducts several competitive examinations, including the Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is one of the most prestigious exams in India. The CSE is also known as the UPSC exam.

The UPSC exam consists of three stages: the preliminary exam, the main exam, and the interview. Candidates who qualify in the preliminary exam are eligible to appear for the main exam, and those who clear the main exam are called for the interview.

There are a limited number of attempts that a candidate can make for the UPSC exam. The number of attempts varies depending on the category of the candidate. For example, candidates belonging to the General category can attempt the UPSC exam a maximum of six times, while candidates belonging to the OBC category can attempt it a maximum of nine times. There is no limit on the number of attempts for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.

It is important to note that the number of attempts is counted from the year in which a candidate first appears for the UPSC exam. For example, if a candidate appears for the UPSC exam for the first time in 2023, the number of attempts will be counted from 2023 onwards.

In addition to the number of attempts, there are also age limits for appearing in the UPSC exam. The minimum age limit for appearing in the exam is 21 years, while the maximum age limit varies depending on the category of the candidate. For example, the maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the General category is 32 years, while for candidates belonging to the OBC category, it is 35 years. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category is 37 years.

In conclusion, the number of attempts that a candidate can make for the UPSC exam depends on the category to which they belong. Candidates belonging to the General category can attempt the exam a maximum of six times, while there is no limit on the number of attempts for candidates belonging to the SC/ST category. It is also important to note that there are age limits for appearing in the UPSC exam.
